World’s first vessel to use two types of wind propulsion technologies

Today, MOL Drybulk Ltd. (MOLDB), a subsidiary of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL) announced they aim to use Anemoi Rotor Sails on board a bulk carrier to be built by Oshima Shipbuilding to help reduce emissions.

The vessel will also use MOL’s ‘Wind Challenger’ hard sail technology so combining wind propulsion technologies will be a first and another great step forward for the shipping industry!

Anemoi is very pleased to be supporting MOL in this project, which sees the vessel due to be chartered by ENVIVA for the carriage of wood pellets.
